RCT Representativeness.
Using routinely registered health care data, the representativeness of a study population from a clinical trial can be estimated by applying its inclusion and exclusion criteria on a real-world population.

Representativeness
Differences in trial designs can result in differencen in representativeness in a real-world patient population, e.g., some trials can be more representative than others despite studying similar patients, treatments and using similar outcomes.
RCT like comparative effectiveness
Applying inclusion/exclusion criterias to a real-world population can also be used for comparative effectiveness studies with similar patient characteristics compared to randomised clinical trials (RCT-like comparative effectiveness studies). Here, it can be investigated how clinical efficacy results translates into a real-world clinical setting and also the impact on health care costs.
